106: A Forgotten Bust

It is the life-sized bust of a woman who nobody knows. Not because she was never famous or never bore a name, but because time has faded her fame and erased her name. The bottom of her bust, where her name would have been carved, has crumbled. The dust lies in the remains of a temple half-way around the earth. And yet she looks strong, watching the room with a fierce gaze. Her jagged crown is adorned with flowers. Chemical tests indicate that there once were colours on her face—deep browns and golds. Now all that remains is a nameless face, washed white by time, ignored by strange passersby.
