Welcome!

Hi!

We're a group of six students from the University of York. We're all in isolation or quarantine, either in the United Kingdom or in Norway. For personal reasons some of us have chosen to write anonymously or under pseudonyms, but we hope this won't stop you from enjoying our publications.

We realised how stressful this time might be for some people out there, and decided to start The Quarantine Journal, or QJ for short.

QJ is a project of love, care, and friendship. It's the result of three years of friendships that have been all over the place but, ultimately, been based in mutual respect and care. It allows us to stay in touch, despite distances and closed borders, and to cultivate those friendships beyond university.

Even though our studies have ranged from English to Physics, we all enjoy either arts or writing (or both), and the last year we met regularly over biscuits and a cup of tea to relax and talk about writing.

By sharing our art and writing here, we want to bring some of that love, care, and friendship to you. We want to show that, even though we're far apart and isolated, we're not alone. Thanks to everything that's going on, everyone's under an immense amount of stress and anxiety. We want this to be a safe space to focus on the stability that remains, and to show that none of us are alone.

We hope you all look after each other. You can also find us @the_quarantinejournal on Instagram, and we look forward to sharing our work with you!
