042: Across the Bowl
Matriarchy. Noun. A family, society, organisation, etc., dominated by a woman or women.
Sometimes I wonder if our dogs live in such a society. Two are male, one is female. The female would probably eat worms straight out of the ground. The males would need the worm dissected, marinated, roasted, and presented on a silver plate before they even considered putting their nose within a foot of it. When they eat breakfast, the female devours her food. The males ponder it first, decide if they want it or not, and maybe even say a prayer, before they start eating. By that time, the female is sitting next to them, licking her nose and waiting for them to finish so she can take whatever is left. If they take too long, she dives in when they look away. If they try to growl, she snorts and growls right back. They never put up a fight.
