097: Hand to Hand

"It's all in the grip," our dance instructor said, and showed us how to lead and follow. "Don't hold your partner back—the hands are just for show." Just skin brushing skin. My partner guided me through the steps (or at least tried to), both of us stumbling over our own feet. But we never stepped on each other, and our hands touched but gently, ready to catch and ready to drop. We giggled at our own mistakes, embarrassed but accepting, and thanked each other for the dance when the song ended. I curtsied, they bowed. We let go, and turned to face our new partners.
